I waited a week to tell you – although you probably already figured it out – that Mercury is retrograde (again – it happens about three times a year 😊) and this time it is traveling in Sagittarius, the 9th sign of the zodiac, representing things like higher education, marketing, philosophical beliefs, communications without any tact at times, wanting to explore and travel, wanting to know more about the world, the world view, truth or lies or both, sales, consulting, envisioning one’s future. These are just a few of the keywords or phrases that represent Sagittarius. This time, however, with Mercury stationing retrograde until December 15, this is a time to stop, think about, and then rethink any of the above ideas just presented.
The added caution one may be feeling right now is that the Sun is also in Sagittarius as of about a week ago and both mercury and the Sun are in a hard aspect (conversation) with the far stricter and slower Saturn, which is in Pisces. This suggests that the lofty ideas, the need to try new pathways, may need a moment to think twice about what the outcome of those fantastic ideas may really look like. In other words, if you want freedom and new adventures and want to move in a new direction – please try to set aside some time to really think about what might happen if you do A, B, or C. This is the message of the current Mercury retrograde, the New Moon (always suggesting new beginnings) but with a little leash on how or what the outcome might be if you pursue this path.
Added to this is, of course, December 6 and the official date for Mars to go retrograde at 6̊ Leo. It will continue its retrograde well into the latter part of February 2025 suggesting an added cautionary tail on how to proceed with the above lofty ideas. Mars is the old ruler of Scorpio and with it in retrograde motion right now, the moment is perfect for finding out more about people, things, ideas, or concepts. Mars is in investigation mode right now. Just because one wants to take a substantial risk (Leo at its best) it is also important to remain somewhat calculated about that approach. This feels frustrating at times because just as you think you’ve figured something out, boom, there is another roadblock or sidestep (I talk a lot about this in my 2025 Starcycles Cheat Sheet) for all of us for probably most of the first half of 2025.
I love planning. I love taking pieces of paper and laying out different ideas, thoughts, concepts, and then I know – for me, at least, I must step away from those plans and ideas – for the correct choices to bubble to the surface. Waiting for the big idea or that aha moment can be very frustrating but the way the planets are aligned right now – nothing is written in stone. To close in this week’s missive, I was recently in a Lyft in San Francisco going to see a friend, and the driver, a sweetheart of a guy, very smart, asked me a simple question: “From the perspective of being an older more mature person, what would you tell a young person that is most important in their life?” My immediate answer was: “To develop patience.” I added a few other thoughts but this was the first thing that jumped to my mind. Over time, things have a way of figuring themselves out – you just must have patience for the right moment and time. See you all next week.
