Wednesday, October 2, 2024 is the Solar Eclipse (the New Moon) at 10° Libra and the last of the Aries/Libra series that began in late 2023. New Moons are always the beginning of the action cycle in the month. The old farmers used to plant (many still do) their crops at the New Moon. An Eclipse often brings in a shadow and we feel or see a shadow that has been surrounding us that we suddenly realize requires release. What are shadows of Libra? Refusing to make decisions because you don’t want anyone to be unhappy is one. Another one is procrastination. And another one is when you’ve vacillated some much you just get angry and want it all (negative Aries at the other end). These are some of the shadows of Libra. The positive of Libra is the ability to step way back, intellectually, and see what really matters in final decision making and being intellectually objective. Being able to start the engine and make some decisions that work for you – even though it may not work for others. If things truly work for you, then it usually follows that it works out for others .
Let’s go back in time for this same eclipse providing some perspective. You may want to remember your own life. On the world stage, on October 3, 1986 was a Solar Eclipse at 10° Libra. Within a few months, President Reagan and Prime Minister Mikhail Gorbachev opened their talks at a summit in Reykjavik, Iceland. Another date was October 3, 2005 and right after this eclipse Angela Merkel was named the first female chancellor of Germany. And right before this same eclipse, we had Hurricane Katrina the summer before, which was one of the worst storms in history – where the reality of climate change (that was put off for so long – Libra) suddenly found itself as a top need for the planet continuing through today. Right after this same, October 2005 eclipse within the 90-day to 180-day window after eclipses, Supreme Court Sandra Day O’Connor resigned opening the door for the new supreme court justice, Samuel Alito (whose name has been in the news a lot in these last few months).
A final eclipse in Libra highlights the shadow question of what is FAIR? This issue of fairness has been top of the news. The issue will play high throughout the election cycle in the USA. Will those issues be addressed? It depends on how conscious people choose to be – this goes back to the issues of Pluto in the last degree of Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn, which rules ethics. Pluto always brings us to the fork in the road of CHOICE. Do we choose consciousness? Or do we choose to be unconscious? Human beings have free will. Let’s see how this plays out in the next few weeks.
