America’s Labor Day falls on Monday, September 5, the last of the summer holidays. Labor is defined as toiling, working hard, and making earnest effort. This holiday honors those who continue to do this so that the entire system doesn’t collapse. I find it interesting in that it always falls during the time that the Sun travels through tropical Virgo. In the natural zodiac, Virgo is associated with the sixth house of employees, helpers, agents, escrow officers, medical analysts, databases, health services, small animals, processing equipment, the list goes on and on. These people who dig ditches either physically or who reformat large computer networks are integral so that the entire system works.
Virgo and the sixth house are also associated with the part of the body we call the small intestine. That small intestine does a lot of work in keeping our bodies healthy as it must sort the nutrition that is good from the nutrition that hurts our systems. It works 24/7 for our entire lives. If we didn’t have this sorting organism, bodies as well as company and government systems would not function. Ironically, one of the most important signs and houses of the zodiac is often the least acknowledged.
With that said on this very important time, what systems in your life – whether personal or professional need sorting? Where do they need a break so they can keep going? Have you taken a break? Are you overworked and out of balance? The upcoming Mercury retrograde at 9° Libra on Friday is asking each of us to ponder where is it we are out of balance and what needs trimming down? With Saturday’s Full Moon at 18° Pisces opposite the Sun at 18° Virgo, insight and/or light is shed upon something that needs tending and needs tending right now. Neptune is on the Pisces Moon and in a great aspect to Pluto – so to whom or where do you reach for gaining insight? Allowing time off helps sort things out. This is important because at the end of 2022 Jupiter re-enters Aries ( the solstice point to Virgo), and it is good to carve out those quiet moments, so you are ready to go when Jupiter enters fiery Aries.
