As many of you know, I write these forecasts weeks in advance and try to stay neutral and non-partisan while looking at the pure energy of the dancing planets. This, of course, in America is the week of the USA election, a much publicized and contentious event for the last several months. Mercury is going direct on this day at 25◦ Libra 53’ and it is my suspicion that this will be one of the greatest voter turnouts in recent history – both from those attending polls to vote and those sending in ballots. It is the first time that so many mail-in votes will be sent in and there has been a lot of contentiousness on their validity. Statistics show, however, that there are very few difficulties with mail in and I must agree with that. This election may be the beginning of a revolution in how we vote in this country. We are almost 330,000,000 strong and this type of population requires more order in terms of all its systems, not only voting systems.
In just looking at the mail – it has evolved over the course of the last 20 or so years with the addition of internet, email, texting, DSL, FedEx, Amazon Prime – I could go on and on. What used to be one system is now interspersed with many other communication vehicles. We have lots and lots of choices. We are delivery culture that has changed drastically in even the last five years.
Anything that has to do with the mails, is ruled by Mercury and since Mercury is going direct this week but doesn’t get back to its original retrograde until November 20, there are sure to be delays, delays, and more delays! That latter date of November 20 is called the shadow position and we always mark those ‘shadows’ in our annual Starcycles Cheat Sheet so you can plan projects using our color coded system available at
The shadow position is when a planet gets back into its cosmic saddle and begins moving again at its normal speed. Until that shadow position, things may have some ‘hitches in the geta longs’ as we used to say growing up. There has been so much news that the election won’t be decided right away. I must agree with that as Mars is also turning direct around the 14th of November and Mercury doesn’t reach shadow until November 20 that yes, there will be delays not only on the public platforms but in our own lives, and those delays, if honored, work out in the end.
And now, to briefly allude to politics – this will be one of the most fascinating elections in modern history because of all the chaos surrounding all the issues. America is in chaos, which is always the precursor to any sort of revolutionary change. We are heading into the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn (the clash of the two great gods in myth) which only occurs every twenty years. I have mentioned this several times in newsletters, workshops, and lectures. I just want to keep mentioning it, because though it is officially starts on December 21, 2020, Jupiter and Saturn have been running neck and neck with each other and these two planets have actually been in declination since 2019 (like a conjunction) which is why we have all this conflict between expansion and the contraction now rather than waiting until that December 21 date. They are already in play and they bring historic upheavals.
The difference between all the other twenty year cycles of Jupiter and Saturn in a conjunction (except for 1982) is that this cycle, starting on December 21, 2020, sets off a new 200-year cycle in mostly air signs – ideas – concepts – and information as currency. Revolution occurs in all realms of our lives – in innovation, in thought, in technology, in our own thinking because of all the new networks and collaborations of people that have been displaced from jobs or kept from getting educated or being unable to travel because of Covid 19. This has cancelled the possibility of new adventures and experiences and this creates a massive sadness in that we can’t plan for the future or anything for that matter, because we just don’t know… We are, in many ways, in the void of existence right now. In astrology, the void is the time when a planet is transitioning between signs but as it is doing that it has no relationship to other planets and is out there, by itself, doing its thing without any sort of ballast.
Void of Course Moons for example (which are part of our new 2021 Starcycles Cheat Sheet), are when the Moon is moving into the next sign and not making certain aspects to the other planets. When this happens, we are told to do nothing or that nothing will come of something. As Jupiter and Saturn head into that ‘void’ moment in the last months of 2020, no one really knows what to do, but in the void, sometimes, magic does happen!
This unforeseen global event of Covid 19 is changing everything and creating a revolution in consciousness of what is possible, if we intelligently approach problems and collaborate with those who are specialists (definitely something we will see when Jupiter and Saturn enter Aquarius in late December).
Jupiter and Saturn will transit into Aquarius, the sign of extremes. Every revolution begins with extremes. Unfortunately, some people don’t often change without extreme discomfort. As Mars stations in a direct motion on November 13, and these two planets are moving into their ‘void’ positions get ready for some hard ball politics and the possible window of sudden global insight that is the catalyst for the revolutionary changes coming. Heroes are needed. They may step up or not – again we all have free will. Those that do step up will be some of the most unlikely candidates. The lesson here is to realize there is a great big middle in the middle of all the extreme rhetoric. There truly is.
With the onset of all the limitations of 2020, the world has changed markedly. The Breaking Down the Borders online conference is an established online astrological conferences and their next packed-full event is THIS weekend, November 6-8. If you want to register for all or part of this wonderful conference, click here.
Georgia Stathis will be presenting one of her favorite predictive techniques, Solar Arcs, with examples on how to use them in different formats. Hope to see you all there. You can register for her lecture here.
