Micro-Forecast: February 10 to 16, 2020

February 10, 2020

When Mercury, communications, entered Pisces on February 3, it already began slowing down because it goes retrograde this Sunday February 16 at 12 Pisces 53′. Since Mercury is wandering very close to where Neptune, which has a foggy energy, it seems like the Mercury retrograde already started. There is no room for panic, particularly since Mercury Retrograde has started to be a symbol for crises. We must remember anytime a planet, particularly Mercury, which retrogrades more frequently, retrogrades, it allows us to slow down a bit and surmise what we’ve been doing since late in 2019.

What do we think about things? Do we need to simplify? Are we a little too stretched mentally and physically and what do we do to simplify? There are many imaginative ideas that show up during this time as Mercury is close to Neptune, which also has the positive quality of imaginative insights. Remember some will work and some won’t, and only time will tell with re-inspection and re-examination what is a good idea and what is not.

I know we are going through this re-evaluation period with one of the charities that I head, the Alexandria iBase Library and Catalog Project. We have done fantastic work, have two librarians on board, cataloguing and identifying astrological collections and are now close to 10,000 uploads BUT…we need some new ideas, new directions and a new website and we know we need to gather an advisory council of young people who are the next generation for this project has been built. So, we are re-assessing our direction and our next phase. We are doing the same at the National Hellenic Museum upon which I am on a board as well.

These times call for careful assessment of what is unnecessary and what we keep, kind of like pruning our ‘idea trees’ for the new growth in spring and for years to come.

The key thing to do over the course of these next few weeks until Mercury goes direct on March 9 is to sort through the past, through closets, files, papers, and let go of what may have seemed important in the past but now are redundant or have passed their ‘kill’ date! As we move into the last quarter of this year’s seasons, which begin anew on Spring Equinox on March 19, changes are in the wind. And they are good ones.

Since Venus, the goddess of love and attraction just entered Aries on February 7, there are two parallel energies going on now. The one mentioned above is the Mercury retrograde moving slowly in a very sensitive sign, Pisces while Venus is plowing through in the assertive sign of Aries. This is a classic ‘push-me pull-you” (remember Dr. Doolittle?) Confusions reigns regarding what actions to take and what actions upon to wait. Mercury doesn’t really start an entirely new cycle in the first sign of Aries until early April, so this is the ‘thinking’ ‘incubating’ part of our year.

So, the best thing to do now, is clear out and clear up anything that is taking up time and space both mentally and physically in our lives. One of my favorite quotes which greets me in my garage each time I drive in is: “The space for what you want is already filled with what you are settling for instead”. And I know you’ve heard that one before.
