Tuesday brings the Fall Equinox, that beautiful turning point when day and night stand in equal measure and we learn of the balance between light and darkness. I always think of this moment as a cosmic Libran scale, poised at the edge of time. It also suggests the ancient Egyptian image of the soul entering the Underworld and having its heart weighed against a feather of Ma’at by the god Anubis. The results of the test are recorded by the scribe, Thoth, a similar figure to Mercury in Western myth. Standing by is the monster who is ready to devour the heart if it is heavier than the feather – so this is a delicate time each year where we assess our deeds and going forward what we wish to take into the last quarter before the Winter solstice in late December., thus suggesting that this quarter is the time of year where we purify and clear our lives of the unnecessary while gathering the harvest of the last two quarters.
I love this as a metaphor for the way we weigh our own actions in the world. None of us is perfect though Libra often longs for that perfect balance. Because Libra wants harmony, fairness, beauty, and peace, decisions can sometimes hang in the air for quite a while—balanced carefully, but not made.
This Equinox, though, feels a little different. As the Sun enters Libra, it first opposes Neptune on Friday, September 25, asking us to pause and reconsider an idea that may have come from imagination, longing, or inspiration. How viable is it, really? When we place it on the scales, the plan may not be perfect, but it can show us where the blind spots or red flags are. So, if something important is forming, pay attention, put a pin in it, and give yourself a few more days to think it through.
As the week winds down and Sunday evening arrives, transiting Mars enters fiery Leo, bringing a fresh burst of energy. That may help point you in a new direction, though ideas that arrive while Mars is moving through Leo may still need more research and refinement. Mars usually takes a few days to find its footing in a new sign, so the end of the week could bring two things at once: a little impatience if others do not see things your way, and some honest challenges to your ideas as Mars opposes Pluto.
I am reminded of times in my own work when I thought I was ready to move forward, only to discover that something small but important still needing attention a file not quite in order, a conversation not yet complete, a piece of timing that had not fully settled. At the time, those pauses felt inconvenient. Looking back, they often saved me from forcing something before it had found its proper shape.
That is the spirit I would bring to this part of the week. It does not mean the new direction is wrong. It may simply mean there are a few places that would benefit from a little more time, care, and listening. This is where it helps to soften the ego as best we can and stay open to what others are noticing. Their perspective may gently help you recalibrate, adjust your direction, and let a stronger, more grounded plan take shape in its own time. Venus adds another layer to this, as she begins her retrograde period in Scorpio at 8° on Saturday, a cycle that lasts until November 13. You can still move forward, but there is no need to rush. This may be a season for moving with more tenderness and patience, tending the basics, noticing what feels unfinished, and allowing small adjustments to reveal themselves naturally. A little research can be helpful now, too—not to prove anything or get everything right, but simply to gather perspective and feel your way forward. You might notice whether others have tried something similar, what seemed to support them, what felt less useful, and which pieces may still need more time to ripen. As always, take good care of yourself this week, move gently where you can, and trust that the quieter adjustments may be the ones that help everything find its proper place.
