Micro-Forecast: September 14 to 20, 2026

September 14, 2026

Dear friends, a rather unusual cycle began a few weeks ago, around June 19, when Chiron—not a planet, but a comet—briefly stepped into Taurus. I have been sitting with that short visit, wondering if it was a preview, a test run, or one of those small celestial nudges that tells us to pay attention before the larger story arrives. Chiron returns to Taurus in the spring of 2027, but even this brief passage seemed to stir those familiar Taurus concerns many of us are already feeling money, shared resources, relationships, and the very practical question of how we sustain ourselves in an increasingly complicated world.

This week, on September 19, Chiron retrogrades back into Aries, where it will remain until it finally leaves that sign on April 14, 2027. Chiron’s cycle is about 52 years, and the last time it moved through this part of the zodiac was around 1977—the same year it was discovered in November. I have always found that timing meaningful. Its discovery arrived alongside the rise of the contemporary holistic health movement, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’s groundbreaking hospice work, and, in my own life, the beginning of my professional astrological practice, not long after I left the newspaper business. Some of you have been with me long enough to know how much those beginnings still mean to me.

Many of you remember the late 1970s: the oil shortage, the gas lines on alternating days, the fall of the Shah of Iran a few years later, and Jimmy Carter’s presidency. It was also a recessionary time, and when I look back at it now, it feels very much in keeping with Chiron in Taurus—a wound, or at least a tender place, in the financial sector. That tenderness often shows itself when older, stable investments are not balanced by newer and more inventive ideas. Chiron has a way of asking us to take what is strong and established, then join it with something fresh enough to make the whole structure more useful, resilient, and alive.

So perhaps this is a good week to honor the steady things—the traditional, conservative, long-term investments that may not look glamorous but can hold value over time. In business, and really in life, it may also mean looking at what is already working and asking how it might be strengthened or brought up to date. Sometimes that means inviting people who understand the newer models better than we do. The point is not to throw out the old, or to chase the new just because it is new. It is to let the two speak to each other and see whether something practical and generous can be built from both.

The same is true in relationships, as so many of you already know from your own lives and from the charts we have explored together over the years. Chiron’s brief visit to Venus-ruled Taurus asks us to strengthen what we genuinely want to keep, while still being honest about what needs to change. Shortly after Chiron entered Taurus, Jupiter moved into Leo, and the two formed a hard opening square. To me, that points to issues that cannot simply be tucked away—but it may also show where the first hints of solutions are beginning to appear. As Chiron returns to Aries at the end of this week and stays there until mid-April 2027, it may be useful to ask yourself, quietly and honestly: Who do I really want to work with? Who should be helping me think through financial planning? Loyalty matters, certainly, but is the person, plan, or system still serving the purpose? Do I need fresh ideas with real traction? And am I taking enough responsibility for my own financial choices? These are tender questions, but Chiron’s short visit to Taurus seems to place them right in front of us.

For that reason, I would gently suggest taking another look at your financial strategies and budgets, not from fear, but from care. The world is not likely to become less expensive anytime soon, and affordability remains a real national wound—perhaps one of the clearest signs of Chiron’s brief entrance into Taurus. As Chiron retrogrades back into Aries, give yourself a little quiet time to consider what would help you feel more secure, especially if you have been avoiding that conversation with yourself. You do not have to solve everything this week. None of us do. But you might begin by telling yourself the truth, making one practical adjustment, and letting the rest unfold from there. As always, be gentle with yourself as the week unfolds.
