The Sun entered Virgo on Saturday, August 22, and is now close to Mercury, supporting focus, careful sorting, and a clearer sense of which details matter and which do not. This emphasis is heightened by Saturday’s Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) at 4° Pisces 54’, opposite the Sun at 4° Virgo 54’. For a while, I thought this would be the last of the Virgo/Pisces eclipses, which I often call the “Chernobyl” eclipses because they are the leftovers after a new cycle begins—but I was wrong. One more remains at the end of February, also a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo.
That said, I still want to consider how this eclipse may unfold, especially because it forms a hard aspect to transiting Uranus in Gemini. Uranus in Gemini, combined with this eclipse, can create distracting detours into everything happening around us—too much chatter and not enough substance. Everyone seems to have an opinion, and within all that noise there may be seeds of truth and ideas for change. The rest, however, must be released because no one can do everything.
With the last eclipse on the South Node in Leo, the question becomes how to separate the wheat from the chaff: what truly matters to you, and what can you leave behind, even if it once formed a major part of your identity? With the Sun now in Virgo for the next four weeks, a sense of sanity may begin to appear on the horizon after this next eclipse. Watch for distractions while driving, and remember that some of what you feel or experience in your body right now may not be a “bug” caught from someone else. It may be a response to heightened anxiety, with the psyche reacting through the Pisces eclipse, where the veils of existence become thin and almost anything—especially negative energy—can get through.
