Micro-Forecast: April 20 to 26, 2026

April 20, 2026

Yesterday, the Sun—a symbol of authority and vitality—entered Taurus, an earth sign known for stability and practicality. When we say a planet is “transiting,” we mean it’s moving through a specific zodiac sign as seen from Earth. Taurus’s calm energy acts like a gentle brake, slowing things down after Aries’ fiery rush. It will, of course, reach a challenging aspect with Pluto by Saturday (a day triggering mountains of change) making the normally docile energy of Taurus a bit more belligerent in its expression, as it pushes for what it wants and may, initially, seem uncompromising. Lives change on a dime with some of the aspects we see this week.

Mercury (the planet of communication) aligns with serious Saturn (the planet of responsibility and practical organization). This alignment encourages us to communicate rationally making agreements that are grounded in reality. On the same day, Mercury also connects with Mars, symbolizing drive, and action—sometimes even conflict. We have two diverse approaches to communications, contracts, and agreements. Picture this as a wild horse charging forward, with the reins pulled tight by Saturn’s discipline. Meanwhile, the third configuration on Monday is that transiting Mars in Aries is also conjunct Saturn today, intensifying the push-and-pull between impulsive action and careful restraint. Saturn’s influence reminds us to stay ethical, follow the rules, and learn from past lessons—even as new challenges arise. The way you being your week with agreements long needing resolution, is directly equal to a standard you set for at least another year. This is going to be important, this theme of holding the reins, because at week’s end, things get hot and heavy as Uranus passes through its final degree at 29 Taurus and enters Gemini for the next almost seven years.

Outcomes at the end of the week may be directly related to all of the above-mentioned need for negotiations and restraint taking place on Monday as mentioned above. This may help to put some brakes on the escalating energy of transiting Uranus at its last degree, its 29th degree of Taurus, on Wednesday and Thursday, where it will not return for 84 years. Sometimes when planets, especially planets known for their revolutionary qualities like Uranus, blow things up so that change finally does come. Uranus, the first planet outside of our visual field, has always been a radical, orbiting on its side. In fact, before it was discovered, astronomers knew something was out there because the other planets at certain times would seem to blink or do something odd, when they came close to Uranus’ yet unseen presence.

Uranus has a lot of bad press in astrology because it is known for revolution, chaos, and waking us up. His energy appears to be radical when in fact he is always the harbinger of collective change. Our problems as human beings is we often ignore change because our lives have become comfortable, particularly around our security – which is very much a Uranus in Taurus theme of these last seven years. We are moving from a time of tangible currency (Taurus) to intellectual and information currency (Gemini). Uranus has been telling us change is coming for a year now, and in fact, acts as a cosmic antenna, asking us to listen and make plans for the new cycles of change. As humans, we don’t like to change – we like what we’ve established, our security (a big theme of these last years) and yet life is always changing. Uranus as the antenna to Spirit or God always sends messages and this week, as Uranus leaves Taurus and enters Gemini on either Friday April 24 or Saturday April 25 depending on where you live, is an awakening. What changes have you been making since last summer when we first had a little taste of Uranus in Gemini?

With this new cycle fast approaching, the issue of sudden separations from others has been a main theme in these last months and may continue until Uranus settles itself by the end of the year. This is part of the Uranus profile, once you were in and now you are out. Uranus in Gemini brings the ‘fresh air’ of idea and innovation. It is a problem solver. Our youth, it is my belief, will be taking a big leap into leadership as this new cycle begins, since Gemini is ruled by Mercury, which represents the youth finding their voice.

I will be teaching for the Midwest School of Astrology (both live and online class) during the Uranus move to Gemini this coming weekend. My weekend course is designed to wake us up to the myths, archetypes, and planetary energies we have around us as seen through the eyes of many cultures. It is a beginning course for astrologers but more seasoned astrologers might find it interesting as well. To find out more about his class and to register, please contact: pam1gallagher@gmail.com
