I am presenting a lecture on Eclipses for the Boston chapter of NCGR on Saturday February 28 at 11 am Eastern time. For any lecture on eclipses, it is always interesting to go back in time at similar degree eclipses, because, of course, the eclipses return every 18.6 years as they align with the transiting Lunar Nodes (Moon’s Nodes). The Moon is important because it truly measures the pulse of the public. Eclipses either Solars (New Moons), or Lunars (Full Moons), align perfectly with the traveling Lunar Nodes and they cause clashes in consciousness while they shatter existing structures – especially when they are aligned with shattering planetary energies. This last eclipse was in a harsh part to Uranus, which shatters things, especially our views, our reasons, especially if they have become too rigid.
Last year in mid-March, 2025, when the so-called ‘Liberation Day’ announced came from the government, the stock market plummeted because transiting Neptune and Saturn were very close to those eclipses. Granted the markets recovered, but the reality of the so-called tariffs, almost a year later, are becoming known (remember Eclipses always show shadows before they show light) and as a result, in both public as well as personal lives, things are coming to light. It could be as simple as health issues that you’ve long ignored, that you can no longer ignore. It could be bigger, the reality of being in a business, especially smaller mom and pops, the ‘light’ is showing you whether or not you can remain in business because of these larger changes highlighted by the latest eclipse in Aquarius, which is ruled by Uranus, and which represents Collective thinking rather than Individual return. As the Nodes move towards Aquarius in late July, we see more and more public gatherings to protest or even support whatever the issues may be – this is typical of this rare cycle, which last occurred in 2007 to 2008 (remember the meltdown and short sales?) Or 1988 to 1990 – remember the Reagan/Gorbachev talks and how the USSR broke into little pieces while Putin is trying to put the Humpty Dumpty parts of his old country back together? Or 1970 when National Guardsmen at Kent State College in Ohio, shot students, universities went on strike across the USA? Or Senator Joseph McCarthy banging his gavel in Congress as he sent fear into the hearts of America about being Communists (commonly known as the Red Scare) and many people losing their lives, their jobs because of his accusations? 1933 to 1934, Hitler rose to power in an Economic downturn in his country. The interesting thing about all these extreme examples (Aquarius eclipses) is that paranoia was rampant – no one was talking – everybody had a position – their position – and wouldn’t move off of it – and this is when things explode. And perhaps that is the USA. Maybe every so many years, the USA has to have a nervous breakdown as a colleague of mine from the United Kingdom recently told me – where Europe thinks we are having a ‘nervous breakdown’!
We’ve done it a few times: The War of Independence; The Civil War; The Civil Rights Movements; and we didn’t change until the extremes became extreme-the rebellious nature of this country.
I could keep subtracting 18.6 years (the time it takes for eclipses to return to the same positions) and continue but below is a table of some of the other events of those times that are eerily similar to issues coming up again between 2026 and 2027. The characters may be different, even the events may be completely opposite, but you must admit a lot of what was happening then, seems to have an eery feeling with some of the events we see unfolding now. In the end, it is about individuals deciding which road to take during these very important Aquarius/Leo eclipses. Wherever the North Node/Pisces to Aquarius is moving through your chart is where you are being asked to take a chance, a strategic risk that may burn away parts of your life not working – but you must be honest with yourself and also be brave. And wherever the South Node Virgo to Leo is occurring is where you are being asked to let go of what no longer really works for you , especially as the summer comes and the South Node moves to Leo, which on the South Node side of the eclipses is about letting go of fixed positions, ego, and hubris that you are the smartest person in the room. We all do better when we work in teams. And the teams you align yourselves with must share ethics, values, and purpose.
Between now and May and August – a lot of change is in the wind – a lot. Since Uranus is involved – it is important to listen to the little voice, the ‘antenna to God” that Ilike to call it that tells you where you might want to think of making a change – because holding on to outworn ideas, businesses, life situations that are not working at all -regardless of how much you’ve tried to shift and change, suggests, that letting go and, frankly, letting “God” …whatever that means to you – Uranus often brings magical opportunities, if we let go of the things we know in our cell structure we need to release. When we don’t let go, it is when, frankly, things blow up where they really don’t need to blow up. Think about it and enjoy the table below. See you next week.
