In looking through the ephemeris for the first 15 days of February, I noted that three planets are forming what is termed “a Yod”. This rare configuration, often called a Finger of God aspect, suggested an implied pattern of destiny for wherever it falls in the horoscope. In other words, opportunity shows its face in the most unlikely places. You are in the right place at the right time for the return on this gift. The only codicil with the following brief summaries is that Mars, the planet of action and strategy, has been appearing as though moving backwards in the sky since December. Soon, however, it moves forward in mid-March and starts working at full steam in mid-May. Thus a certain delay in the opportunity is also present.

The Yod suggests that these first few days of February were a set-up period for something far more remarkable in late spring. Regardless, the good fortune requires some soul searching on the part of each of you as one of the planets involved in this configuration is Jupiter (opportunity) currently moving quickly through Pisces, one of the most spiritual points of the zodiac, where everything is cleaned and ‘toxic waste management’ of one’s life takes place. A spiritual or creative practice is conducive to the process of waste removal. Clearing out toxins in our lives requires a conscious effort towards obstacle removal and refocusing the new space you open for yourself onto something you love to do — creatively — whether it is writing, talking, traveling, or helping and this alignment insures a return on the fortunate Yod or wish over the course of the next few months.

For Aries: Incorporate a spiritual practice and/or a creative idea into something that could generate not only revenues but also some fun. Sort through an issue you have with loved ones and make some decisions in order to move forward with projects.

For Taurus: Incorporate working or teaching to groups, demonstrating newly developed techniques and methods for added resources and partnership possibilities that are long term and stable. Key thing is you don’t have to live in one place to make money and prosper. The world is your oyster and all you have to figure out is how to carry that shell on your back.

For Gemini: Incorporate travel and business and design a portfolio or some sort of presentation piece. When you do, someone shows up to offer you a professional opportunity. With a little flexibility and a lot of imagination you can create something new that incorporates the traditional and the unconventional. You hold the perfect hybrid.

For Cancer: Incorporate your ability to bring together people that may have similar values to change something that is globally needed. The technology and the expertise are right there and help make for more efficient project management allowing you to fulfill responsibilities confronting you on the home front.

For Leo: Incorporate your ability to join people together in joint investment or financial efforts as well as fund raising efforts. You soon have the energy and the representatives to further your idea through a greater communication network. This is a win-win for everyone involved financially and soulfully.

For Virgo: Partnerships are definitely highlighted — whether professional or personal or both. Opportunities present themselves from the reputation you’ve achieved. Sorting out your personal financial affairs is the first step towards having more freedom to exercise and expand your vision offering more long-term return and steady cash flow.

For Libra: Release yourself from unhealthy relationships that come from all portions of your lives — peers, difficult family members, long-term friendships as well as professional associations that you’ve definitely outgrown. One of the keys for moving you forward is to complete a license, a certification, or training program. Align yourself with people that work as thoughtfully as you do and you find yourself in a new life as well as work environment.

For Scorpio: Incorporate more fun into your life which assists in opening up your creative juices, which are clogged. Yes, you struggle to find your new life and its direction and this requires patience as well as faith that it will be revealed to you in time. Part of what helps is a creative project that generates beauty and peace. Sort out the closets of your mind consciously or with the help of a qualified therapist. Are your beliefs yours or someone else’s?

For Sagittarius: Incorporate more support from family or those like family and make some long-term plans for travel and learning with each other. Freedom is great, but sometimes freedom doesn’t come unless you unleash the confines of your mind. Vision is wonderful, but needs a practical base and the right people who can open the right doors for you. Cultivate those people who open up the doors and remember them on the way up. Appreciation and gratitude is key.

For Capricorn: What is holding you down financially? Perhaps a budget or a hard look at how much you’ve overextended yourself is in order. Certainly the best things in life are great, but they aren’t free. Capricorn knows this for sure, but if you want more time to see the world and roam it, then re-inventing the day to day is in order. You are not afraid of work, but all work and no play — well you know the drill…You can even work and travel. How about that?

For Aquarius: Discard old rules regarding relationships and open yourself up to new perspectives and options regarding relationships. Too many rules limit your options. Key thing to remember is that you are different and that type of partner is expected for your ever changing personality. There may be extremes in age, culture, and interests, but the differences make for a good match. Someone more anchored and traditional may be worth a second look.

For Pisces: Incorporate your light and humor into your day to day work routine and find all types of interesting work that allows for your more expansive fluidity established over the past few years. Your many interests and skills beg to be incorporated into a unique presentation whose time has come. The new technologies are at your doorstep just begging for your use. Expand, go forth and prosper.

This is a brief forecast for all of you. Watch for the upcoming, more expanded quarterly forecast for all the signs of the Zodiac at the end of March available to you, our reader, for a small fee of $12 per forecast. We make it easy for you with a download username and password. If you’ve signed up for our very rare newsletter (which also gives you a free white paper on Paradigms), then you’ll be notified ahead of time.

Happy February!
Georgia (still in New Zealand, but coming home soon).

The United States of America is a nation of extremes. Our nation comprised of fifty states equaling the size of fifty countries as well as being a patchwork quilt of cultures from all over the world began with an extreme act of protest, which was the Boston Tea Party. This act of anarchy was the direct result of high tariffs unfairly imposed upon the Colonists. Their extreme numbers (tax numbers) created an extreme response from those who had been in the United States for a very long time, many of whose families perished while trying to reach a new life and dream coming to America. Once they had arrived, several generations had established themselves quite independently from Mother England.

Today we continue to be a nation of extremes: extreme levels of wealth as well as poverty; extreme climates that range from the arid deserts of the Southwest to the heavily forested Northwest. We are large, vast and diversified and growing exponentially causing extreme conditions not only in our country but throughout the world. Currently, this very large mass on the planet is economically challenged.

Extreme weather conditions and infrastructure failures– i.e. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the collapse of levees and bridges, the extreme budget deficit resulting from the Iraq War and the high population numbers provide fertile ground for revolutionary changes because that ‘cosmic’ rubber band is about as stretched as it can get.

2008’s bubble exploded as extreme political and financial conditions resulted from the lack of change of organization at all levels of government and industry. Its results are high unemployment, higher and higher costs heading to a greater inflation and national debt that has gone haywire. The lack of boundaries in spending and regulation is on all the different administrations — not one or the other. One government is just too big for such a large geographic area. These extreme conditions have resulted with more and more foreclosures slowly dividing the vast population into two extreme categories — to those that are rich and those that are poor, with the middle class taking all of the hits with regard to taxes and penalties and higher costs.

The Bottom Line is that resolution can only come from each individual whose voice must be heard within the microcosm of their communities. This is where the change has to begin. Self-responsibility is the issue on the table now. It always has been, but now more than ever.

The banks and the mortgage companies had no boundaries when they gave home loans to just anyone with ’stated’ incomes and this was negligence on their parts, but the truth of the matter is that the responsibility also fell upon those looking for a quick profit with little investment of their time or money. When you don’t invest a lot, it is much easier to walk away. After all, ‘it is someone else’s money, right??’ Wrong!! The change in this country is about awakening to our individual responsibility to ourselves, our families and to our communities. This is the trend between now and 2020.

Someone said, ‘the Devil is in the Details’…this is where each of us has to start right now and today. Get out those budget sheets and start writing down what it is you really do bring in as far as income and what it is you really spend. This simple technique provides a wonderful wake-up call when you really look at the numbers. When we really look at where we’ve been and are planning to go and the resources with which we can do them, it creates extreme responses….either elation or shock!!

Either way, it is the shadow lurking in every home in America today. And this financial specter haunting many households today must be exorcised in order for all of us to prosper. If one can look at this as an exercise in re-organization and re-structuring without any judgment from within or without, it can also turn out to be a lot of fun. Creating something out of nothing on very little or, perhaps, even too much is the ‘theme’ of Pluto as it slowly proceeds through Capricorn until 2024!

Regardless, it needs to be done before spring of 2010 as Saturn permanently enters the sign of Libra. This thirty-year cycle often brings new opportunities for all. The amount of ‘opportunity’ directly relates to the conscious act of balancing our lives, our budgets and our lifestyles. So, the question is: “Will you be dressed for the party??”

As a public service, Starcycles is offering a free budget template to anyone interested in cleaning up their financial ‘act’. This budget template has a built-in spreadsheet so if you add income numbers you see the ‘profit’ amount at the bottom of each vertical column. As you add your monthly expenses, you see that ‘added number’ slowly decreases. This is an excellent exercise not only for all of the adults in the household, but a great training tool for those young people you know either heading off to high school, where they will have their own money, or, even those older students and young adults who are working. I remember years ago I became starkly aware of this technique when I was having ‘trouble’ balancing my checkbook as a very young adult/college student. In tandem with that, I remember my father complaining saying, “You are going to college, and you should know this!!” The sad thing is that he was right. I should have known, but he was also wrong in that he, like many parents, think that if their children are educated, then they just ‘know’ how to handle money and resources.

This is furthest from the truth. Everyone has to learn to do this. So, again, if you want to get a head start on those opportunities coming your way, then start with some basic planning now. Write down your goals for the New Year, which is coming fast, and differentiate between your Wants and your Needs. Wants are very different than Needs. In order to fulfill your Needs, you must budget. When you budget, you can see where you can fulfill those Wants, which result from the freedom of planning.

This is a tool that has served me well over the years and I offer it as a gift to you as well. Interested? If so, please click here to download your free Budget Template. Make sure you make a copy of the original before you start playing with it.

If you wish even more information on ‘timing’ for 2010, then order our new “Astrology in English” 2010 Starcycles Calendar for only $19.95 as a digital download. There is an extreme change on the horizon — how it looks is up to each individual willing to examine the infra-structure of our lives.

Much has been written about the Moon and its cycles and it is the greater focus of a calendar we produce each year and it is also the focus of certain aspects in predictive work. This is somewhat different than the more popular Sun Sign forecasts. In ancient times, the Moon’s cycles were followed long before the Sun’s cycles were followed, primarily because it was a visible anchor for the ancients who lived, planted and hunted by the Moon. Even today, many investors and farmers still follow the Moon’s cycles since it shifts about every 2.5 days and moves, quite dependably, from a New Moon (when the Moon looks black) to the Full Moon in full light. There are two weeks from the New Moon to Full Moon, which is called the ‘waxing’ cycle and then two weeks from Full Moon to New Moon (waning), where it dies on the vine (lunar humor!).

Depending on circumstances, of course, it is a good practice to begin ventures, even marriages from New to Full Moons, since this is the growing cycle of the Moon. Over the course of approximately 27.32 days, the full cycle ebbs and flows along with the tides. From Full to New Moon, as we see the light diminishing, this is a great time to finish things, clear desks, go through files, and even start diets, thereby ’shrinking’ our environments so we can be ready to go when the New Moon cycle re-appears and the monthly growing cycle begins again.

In our Starcycles Calendar which we’ve published since 1995, we feature Void of Course Moon cycles with a very graphic black-out bar. The Void of Course Moon is important and doesn’t suggest stopping all activities, of course, but, instead, suggests a more universal, stop, wait, and see what happens moment. These may last for either a few minutes or for an entire day as you will see in any astro calendar! We mark the last aspect moment the Moon has with another planet with either a (+) sign or a (-) sign. An aspect is a geometric conversation (an angular distance) with another planet and whether it was amiable or discordant is indicated by the plus or minus symbols.

I find that when planning a meeting during a Void that it’s best to clarify, edit, or clean-up a matter that needs culling. Starting a brand new idea or business during one of these might be too early to tell but this opportunity provides for an explorative session. Planning an event to begin on a Void Moon is not a good idea. Neither is signing an agreement or a contract, because more often than not, something was overlooked (not always intentionally) — it just didn’t come to ‘light’ until after the Moon is back on course, indicated by the ending of the black-out bar (all of which are set for Pacific Time) in our calendar.

The Void

An interesting perspective comes from Eastern cultures regarding the Void, which is somewhat different than the astrological perspective. In the five hundred year old Samurai manual, A Book of Five Rings, written by Miyamoto Musashi and sometimes used in M.B.A. programs, he writes about the Void. The upshot of those few pages is that the Void is where all the magic happens — the idea of incubation before inspiration — and, this is a positive and alternative view of the Void of Course Moon.

We have marked the New, First Quarter, Full and Last Quarter Moons with their times (Pacific time) and the signs of the Tropical Zodiac where they are seen. We include a grid explaining these quarterly cycles and provide a breakdown for each Moon’s meanings — for those of you familiar, you can use these as a tool. For those unfamiliar with them, you can always find weekly micro-forecasts and podcasts that compliment them.

The Moon and the Eclipses

One of the most predictable cycles is the 18.6 year nodal cycle which runs with the eclipses. Every 19 years, we often have precisely the same eclipse on precisely the same date! These repeating cycles blast open the same areas of your life every 18 to 19 years.

Since their tone is evolutionary, when they return, they push you forward onto a new path that sequences the pattern of the last cycle, affording opportunities to confront and change outworn patterns. The patterns for 2010 are almost exact to some of the patterns in 1991, particularly the January 15, July 11, and December 21, 2010 Eclipses. All hit on those same days in 1991 and at the same intensity and the same signs, degrees and minutes!!

This suggests that those situations, thoughts, conditions left unresolved in 1991 and 1992 present new opportunities for resolution. Like DNA, whose strands are similar to rungs in a spiral ladder, evolution can occur in personal as well as professional lives if one is willing to open to new options.

The astronomers define an eclipse as “a temporary loss of light so that we see a shadow”, which explains the often ‘dark’ feeling we experience when eclipses hit our charts. Often the few days and sometimes the entire month before many feel a psychological darkness and exhaustion. Doors are about to close, but in the ’shadow’ one is unable to see as clearly as they might see in the months ahead.

Often those insights appear at 87 to 90 day periods after the eclipses [marked in our calendars by fireworks]. These periods of peripheral vision provide insight and clarity not found during the eclipse. Human beings don’t make changes unless really uncomfortable, and eclipses create discomfort ultimately forcing decision making and action.

Watch for those ninety days (90) after the eclipses, which reveal the ‘rest of the story’. They are in late March, mid April, late September, and mid October 2010.

The larger economic and world trends are also reflected in this 18.6 year cycle. Some of the cycles that follow this trend are the interest rates, real estate activity, fashion cycles, and even popular colors, particularly for automobiles. The eclipses run with two points called the North and South Nodes. These two points are also referred to as the Dragon’s Head (North) and the Dragon’s Tail (South). Where the ‘head’ travels through your chart for 1.5 years is where you get a chance to eat the Sun — i.e. take uncomfortable risks that you normally don’t. The area of your chart through which the ‘tail’ travels is where you are asked to let go so that you move forward in your life.

In 2010, the eclipses are in Capricorn and Cancer. The last one of the year starts a new series in Gemini, but the main thread in 2010 is that of conservation and prudence. The North Node runs through the sign of Capricorn suggesting it is time to take risks regardless of one’s fears. Trepidation can be your friend if you partner it with careful analysis and assessment. The ‘colors’ often associated with Capricorn are in the dark hues — the grays, blacks, navy and steel gray tones. Those will be the colors seen prominently from fashion magazines to home improvement magazines. Did anyone even realize that there are hundreds of different tones of just the color black?? Black was a color found very prominently in fashion between about 1984 and 1995. It never went away, but there was a period where bright and clear colors emerged after that. In the last year or two, black is returning and we see it everywhere. This is the influence of Pluto in the sign of Capricorn accompanied by the North Node.

This could be a time in which money is made by those who think strategically. Ask yourself where are the opportunities? Since the South Node will be traveling through the sign of Cancer, which is the sign that rules housing, homes, families and their properties, the letting go of certain organizations or families of their long held properties, both tangible and intangible, offer opportunity for prudent money managers or people needing to begin their lives, but are on strict budgets. If people are patient, work hard, and budget, much can come from nothing.

Capricorn energies (everyone has this somewhere in their chart — you don’t have to be born one) are about doing a lot with very little. It is the sign of ‘minimalism’. This is why businesses with a ‘recycled’ or ‘consignment’ or ‘vintage’ slant will do well. In addition, thinking outside the box regarding what else can be consigned that isn’t clothing or computer hardware and finding a niche for it can bring magical opportunities. Plus it is fun and gives something back without wasting anything.

The talent of finding several uses for one thing is a commodity you can use or sell. Redesigning that favorite skirt by shortening the hem or adding trim, or, taking a favorite shirt whose color has faded and dying it gives it an entirely new life to something. The same goes for someone’s furniture junk, which with a few brushstrokes and a little sanding can create the ideal piece of furniture. Combining old favorites with only one or two new pieces in the season’s classic colors of not only dark hues, but dark plums, dark greens, and chestnuts lend themselves well to the high end and classic quality indicative of Capricorn. Capricorn is also the sign of dark brews such as dark beers, coffee and tea as well as concrete, stone, brick, construction, recycled materials and buying better and spending less.

2010 is the year of the deal. Governor Schwarzenegger of California recently okayed selling off approximately 1/3 of the automobile fleet owned by California because it is excess inventory. If you can’t use a car, then maybe you can resell the parts?? In addition, the State of California has issued all kinds of IOUs as tax refunds for people. Many are buying them from their owners at a 15% discount giving their owners their refund with a slight discount and providing far sighted investors a 15% profit when they are paid. Where can one get 15% interest in today’s market?

Bernard Baruch, a famous American financier, who lived in the early part of the 20th Century, would sit on the park bench across from the White House lawn, where many politicos including presidents would confer with him on ‘what to do’ regarding the economy. When asked the secret of his success, his response was, “I buy my straw hats in the winter!” And, that, my friends, says it all.
